All of the Above

Like the saying goes, you never want to put all your eggs in one basket. It’s vital that rural co-ops have access to multiple energy resources, whether it is renewable energy that can be dispatched at 4:00 p.m. or natural gas at 4:00 a.m. Ensuring rural Arizona has enough diverse energy resources to meet the high demands of summer is an important issue for every community.

The Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) provides oversight of the types of energy resources the co-ops use, that’s why this governing body is so important to our member-consumers.

Affordable Energy

As a co-op member, cost is likely top of mind– especially in the summer. In order for co-ops to provide affordable electricity, we need access to affordable generation resources. We also need access to many types of generation resources, at certain points of the day solar may be the most cost effective; however at other points of the day it will make the most sense to utilize our natural gas resources. With a reliable and affordable mix of energy resources, we can continue to work hard in providing electricity at the lowest possible cost.

The Arizona Corporation Commission can impact affordability in a number of ways. Be sure to learn more about the candidates below to see what they have to say on this important issue.

Local Choice

As co-ops, we have a locally elected board of directors. Since these directors are also co-op members like you, they have the best understanding of how to chart our co-op’s path forward. We have worked with the Corporation Commission on a number of policies that provide the co-ops flexibility on a number of issues that are best left to the decisions of our local boards.

Preserving Water Resources

Perhaps the most vital natural resource in Arizona is our water. A portion of our rural co-ops’ electricity comes from the Hoover and Glen Canyon Dams, and many co-op members own and operate farms all across the Grand Canyon State. The Arizona Corporation Commission plays a role in overseeing this important resource.
